Big Brothers Big Sisters believes that inherent in every child is incredible potential. They make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through young adulthood, in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. National research has shown that being in a positive relationship with a volunteer mentor has a measurable benefit in a child’s life. Children in our program are more confident, more likely to stay away from drugs and alcohol, do better in school, get along better with family and friends, and feel better about themselves.
