Community Mentors in the pilot program at Spring Garden Elementary met recently to share best practices and improvements for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year.

We were encouraged to have Steve Chapman, HEB ISD Deputy Superintendent for Education Operations, join us and share his insights.

The group celebrated ‘wins’ for the students, which included advancements in interpersonal skills and communication.

During the pilot project, 23 mentors met with 34 children over the course of 20 weeks providing 680 chances to impact a child’s life.

And, right now, there is a special opportunity to help HEB elementary students.
When you sponsor a child (for only $20 per child), you can provide a student with a backpack and school supplies.  Click here to sponsor one or more children.  Learn more about HEB ISD Operation Back-2-School.

I am a Volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul. What are all the requirements to be accepted into your Momentum/mentoring Program? Are only certain zip codes accepted?
