BEDFORD– There's a good kind of exhausted, and hundreds of people are feeling it right now. Thanks to over 700 volunteers offering dozens of hours of support over the last few weeks, we've been able to provide school supplies for 4,500 students in the Hurst Euless Bedford Independent School District.

Starting at 7:30am on August 22 and running until 3:00pm that day, 6 Stones and our coalition of partners provided everything from pencils to painted faces, from community to crayons. With the help of over 70 church, corporate and community vendors and sponsors, we were able to do more than hand off tools for a better future. We were able to give hope, to show love and to empower citizens of our cities to do the same.

Just five days ago, on August 17, everything about today seemed improbable if not impossible. Despite an abundance of eager volunteers, 1,162 students had not yet been sponsored. But our community is bigger than statistics. Come Thursday, that number was down to 102. As of 7:00am, every child was accounted for. That's the power of a coalition; the power of hope.

We'd like to thank everyone who played a part in today's event, from the police and fire departments to the city officials to the individual volunteers who gave up their Saturday for a child.

This wouldn't happen without you.
